Micke to #5! Haney at #9! Round 3 of Qualifying at World Series of Pro Mod!!

The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J & A Service, LLC Pro Mods make up more than 10% at the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod 2025! With nine racers on site, the MWDRS group is well represented with cars of all types! With power adders including turbos, nitrous and blowers, our racers are proving they know how to put down the power!!

Round Three of Qualifying kicked off in the morning, with the slower cars going first, working their way to the quicker qualified cars. Being early, and such a large field, this created a swing in temps and track conditions that had a few racers scrambling!

Before we talk about the racers that made passes during Q3, we want to send out our support for the Scott Palmer Racing crew. After Scott’s run yesterday, the outpouring of support for him was touching to say the least! Sadly, the Corvette is up for the weekend.
And Ed Thornton and the D-Bar-D Racing team are headed to Oklahoma to repair a few pieces on the chassis of the Camaro. The team worked hard after Q1 to remedy the problems but at those speeds and, with Ed’s safety in mind, the choice was made to take the car back to the shop and repair it correctly ahead of the season opener at XRP in April.

Micke has the car figured out! Ran early in Q3 and put down the 5th Quickest Pass of Qualifying so far! 3.614 with a huge 500’ wheelie! This would move him from 46th to 5th in the field!!

That run moved the Bump to 3.660

Blake Housley was the next MWDRS racer in the beams, currently sitting outside the field in his new Camaro. Sadly Blake spun at the hit and coasted down the track.

Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington was up a few pair later. The car looked amazing with a huge 200’ wheelie before driving towards the wall about 250’ out. The car looks incredibly quick!

The Bump Spot fell again after a few runs, settling at Antron Brown’s 3.659 for a single pair! It would fall to Steve King’s 3.658 for a few more pair.

The next Mid-West Racers up were actually paired side by side with a pair of Mustangs! Chris Juliano in his Nitrous car and Tommy Cunnigham in the Blower car! Both cars looked tough to about 100’ before lifting during their run. Chris would lift around 100’ after putting down a .947 60’. Tommy lifting about 300’ in after running a .950 60’.

Keith Goolsby, in the Black Pearl, had a great round, running a .938 60’ and 3.695 ET, sadly not quick enough to get in yet. But, as the track and temps warmed up, this was one of few passes to go that quick in Q3 and should setup a great tune for tonight’s wild Q5!

The last MWDRS racer to take the lanes would be #9 Qualifier Keith Haney. Sadly, the Black Mamba was leaking fluid after the burnout so the guys pushed it back to the pits and are currently working on it. The puke tank overflowed after the burnout, so an easy fix.

The session would close with Erica Enders in the Bump Spot at 3.654 at 204.54 MPH. Tim Dutton, Scott Taylor and Erica Enders hold the final three spots, all with a 3.654, separated by just 1.4 mph!

As we look toward the Fourth Session of Qualifying, we can expect higher temps and less than optimal conditions for the best runs. But, that round will give the racers much needed data for the Eliminations rounds that will be ran during the same times on Saturday!

Ellen and Mike will be on the MWDRS social channels at 3pm to discuss the standings so far!
